About Dr. G. Sambasiva Rao
Dr. Gutta Sambasiva Rao is a distinguished academician, administrator, and researcher with over four decades of experience in engineering education, institutional leadership, and research. Currently serving as the Pro Vice-Chancellor of Dr. RVR NRI Institute of Technology (Deemed to be University), he brings a wealth of expertise in academic governance, strategic development, and quality enhancement in higher education.
He holds a Ph.D. in Thermoelasticity from Andhra University, along with a Master’s degree in Heat Transfer and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. His academic and research interests include thermoelastic behavior of FRP composite materials and free convective heat transfer.
Dr. Rao has held several key leadership positions, including Director–Academics at NRI Institute of Technology and Principal of reputed institutions such as Sir C. R. Reddy College of Engineering, V.R. Siddhartha Engineering College and PVP Siddhartha Institute of Technology. He has also served as Vice-Principal and held various academic roles, demonstrating consistent excellence in institutional development, accreditation, and academic reforms.
Internationally, he served as Head of the School at Kolej ITJ, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he played a pivotal role in conducting twinning programs, designing industry-specific training modules, and coordinating with universities in the UK, USA and Australia. He has also worked as a consultant for Natural Rubber processing Plants across Southeast Asia and Africa.
Dr. Rao has made significant contributions to research, having published extensively in national and international journals and conferences. He has successfully guided numerous postgraduate and doctoral students and has been actively involved in sponsored research projects funded by agencies such as AICTE and DRDO. He also holds multiple patents in areas including automation and real-time data systems.
As an academic leader, he has been instrumental in securing major grants, achieving accreditations, and enhancing institutional rankings. He was responsible for securing prestigious TEQIP grant to VR Siddhartha Engineering college and acted as Coordinator. As a brain storming committee member of NBA, he played an instrumental role in framing NBA accreditation processes aligned with Washington Accord standards, and the development of outcome-based education frameworks. He is also recognized as an A-Grade NBA evaluator.
During his tenure as Principal at various institutions, Dr. Rao demonstrated exceptional leadership by improving student admissions, strengthening placement outcomes, establishing advanced skill development centers, and fostering industry collaborations, including partnerships with global universities and organizations.
Dr. Rao is widely respected for his commitment to academic excellence, student development, and innovation in engineering education. His vision continues to inspire institutional growth and prepare students to meet global industry standards.
